The Green Bay Packers 2021 schedule is out and regardless of who is on the roster and who isn’t, Head Coach Matt LaFleur’s 3rd campaign will be an arduous one and the longest one in NFL history, now at 17 games.
Just three pre-season games and the August tune-ups will all be on Saturday night. The Houston Texans come to Lambeau on August 14, the New York Jets the following week and the exhibitions wrap in Buffalo on August 28. The teams all get the Labor Day weekend off before the regular season begins.
The Packer slate features five prime time games, all three NFC North rivals will play under the lights at Lambeau. They will play 10 games against playoff teams from 2020. Six of the first nine games will be on the road and the Packers won’t hit their bye until December 5, week 13.
So without further adieu…
Sunday, September 12 3:25 PM At New Orleans Saints
An opener in the Big Easy won’t be a Brees, even without Drew. The defense still has nightmares of Alvin Kamara breaking tackles. This will be the Fox America’s Game of the Week premier.
Monday, September 20 7:15 PM DETROIT LIONS
Wouldn’t that be something if Tim Boyle beats out Jared Goff? Another new regime in the Motor City begins. 29th straight season the Pack will be on MNF.
Sunday, September 26 7:20 PM At San Francisco 49ers
The Packers exorcised Levi’s Stadium demons against a ghost of a 49er roster last year. The wounded who watched will remember.
Sunday, October 3 3:25 PM PITTSBURGH STEELERS
It’s been 11 years since that glorious day in Dallas against these guys. Definitely the last chance to see Big Ben at the first Gold Package game of the year.
Sunday, October 10 12:00 PM At Cincinnati Bengals
The Packers haven’t won in the Queen City since Mike Holmgren was on the sidelines. Mike Sherman’s son in law calls the plays for Joe Burrow.
Sunday, October 17 12:00 PM At Chicago Bears
Will Justin Fields be entrenched by this one? First time the Packers have played an October road game against the Bears since they drove right through Chicago to play in Champaign.
Sunday, October 24 12:00 PM WASHINGTON FOOTBALL TEAM
Yes, this is one of the 1o playoff participants from a year ago who haven’t won at Lambeau since 1988.
Thursday, October 28 7:20 PM At Arizona Cardinals
A long trip on a short week is daunting. Prime time on Amazon Prime for this one.
Sunday, November 7 3:25 PM At Kansas City Chiefs
The extra game added this off-season might still not have the marquee QB matchup everyone was hoping for two years ago.
Sunday, November 14 3:25 PM SEATTLE SEAHAWKS
LaFleur’s first playoff victory came against these birds who have lost nine straight times in Titletown.
Sunday, November 21 12:00 PM At Minnesota Vikings
Skol, the horn, the braids, so much about US Bank is annoying.
Sunday, November 28 3:25 PM LOS ANGELES RAMS
LaFleur’s second playoff victory as coach came against that vaunted defense last year. Wonder if that will make Matthew Stafford a better quarterback? This is Gold Package game number 2.
Sunday, December 5 BYE The latest week off ever for the boys.
Sunday, December 12 7:20 PM CHICAGO BEARS
Football night in America gets the NFL’s oldest rivalry and odds are the Packers will pile up points, they’ve averaged 28+ against Da Bears at home over the last dozen years.
Sunday, December 19 12:00 PM At Baltimore Ravens
The Packers are 1-1 in Baltimore against the Ravens, I long for the days at Memorial Stadium when they went 8-9-1 against the Colts of Baltimore.
Saturday, December 25 3:25 CLEVELAND BROWNS
Have yourself a merry little Christmas as the Packers will play on the holiday for the first time since 2011. The wife is not happy about this one.
Sunday, January 2 7:20 PM MINNESOTA VIKINGS
It’s a black and blue finish for the Pack beginning with the purple and yellow. No wonder the NBC Rainbow wants this one too.
Sunday, January 9 12:00 PM At Detroit Lions.
The finale at Ford Field.
