MADISON, WI (WTAQ-WLUK) — More than 1% of Wisconsin kids ages 12-15 received a coronavirus vaccine on the first day they were eligible Thursday.
The state Department of Health Services says 3,456 people, or 1.2% of state residents in that age group, have received a vaccine as of Friday.
The total doses administered in Wisconsin reached 4,817,417. A total of 2,616,859 people (44.9% of the population) have received at least one dose, while 2,263,607 (38.9%) have completed their vaccine series.
Meanwhile on Friday, DHS reported 513 new cases, or 12.4% of the 4,138 people tested. The seven-day average of new cases fell to 444, its lowest level since March 22.
One person died of COVID-19, the illness caused by the coronavirus. The seven-day average of deaths fell to 10.
Since the pandemic began, there have been 605,376 confirmed cases and 6,954 deaths. DHS lists 590,678 people as having recovered from COVID-19.
