Indiana Pacers guard/forward Caris LeVert will miss Tuesday night’s play-in game — and multiple playoff games if the team were to win — due to health and safety protocols, The Athletic and ESPN reported Tuesday.
LeVert will be out the next 10-14 days, ESPN reported, suggesting the 26-year-old tested positive for COVID-19.
It’s a significant loss for the Pacers. LeVert is averaging 20.7 points, 4.6 rebounds and 4.9 assists in 35 games (all starts) for Indiana.
The ninth-seeded Pacers host the No. 10 seed Charlotte Hornets on Tuesday night in Indianapolis. The loser is done for the season.
LeVert was traded to the Pacers on Jan. 13 after 12 games with the Brooklyn Nets this season. During the physical required before team and league trade approval, a small mass was discovered on his left kidney. He underwent surgery in January. The mass was identified as renal cell carcinoma.
He finally made his debut with the Pacers on March 13.
For his career, LeVert is averaging 14.1 points, 3.9 rebounds and 3.9 assists per game in 260 games (131 starts) with the Nets and Pacers.
