WAUSAU, WI (WSAU) — A local health department needs help finding a dog.
According to the Marathon County Health Department, they are looking for a dog who bit an 11-year-old girl on Friday, May 28th. The incident occurred around 3:55 p.m. while the girl was riding her bike in the neighborhood in her home near the intersection of N. 32nd Ave and Tinkers Court.
The dog is described as a medium to large-sized labrador retriever with short hair and light in color, likely brown. The victim did not see if the dog was wearing a collar as the dog ran off after biting the girl in the arm.
Police have followed up with dog owners in the neighborhood but they have been unable to find the dog who bit the girl. The Health Department is looking to verify the dog’s rabies vaccination status to keep the girl from having to go through a series of rabies shots.
Anyone who thinks their dog could have been running loose in the area at that time or know who the dog belongs to is asked to contact the Marathon County Health Department at 715-261-1908.
