MADISON, WI (METRO) – Only voters or witnesses would be able to change their ballots under the latest plan to move forward at the Wisconsin Capitol.
A state Assembly panel yesterday advanced a plan that clarifies that election workers in the state would not be able to fix mistakes on absentee ballots.
The official term is curing, and Republicans say election workers across the state cured thousands of ballots last fall that should not have been counted.
Democrats in Madison say the plan will all but guarantee that some votes won’t be counted in the future. Supporters of the plan say voters have a responsibility to make sure their ballots are filled-out properly.
