FORT ATKINSON, WI (WSAU) — State fire and criminal investigation officials are investigating a fire in Fort Atkinson as suspicious.
The fire broke out late Friday morning in a home on Foster Street. First responders located what they called “heavy” fire conditions, and did find one person dead inside the building.
The incident also led to an AMBER Alert for two-year-old Emma Schoonover who was taken from the scene. The alert was canceled before the broadcast could be sent to mobile devices statewide when she was located safely.
Investigators have a suspect in custody in the suspicious death case, but no further information has been released at this time. The state Division of Criminal Investigation is handling the case
