WISCONSIN RAPIDS, WI (WSAU-WAOW) — A Wood County man is facing almost a dozen child pornography charges.
John Walton, 81, of Marshfield was in Wood County Circuit Court on Monday for an initial appearance. Walton is facing 10 charges of possession of child pornography. During his appearance, Walton waived his right to a preliminary hearing and pleaded not guilty to the charges.
WAOW-TV is reporting that police found the images on electronic equipment owned by Walton, when they executed a search warrant at his home in March. Court records show that Walton at first denied knowing anything about the images, but later admitted to police that they might find some on his iPad.
Those same records also say he admitted to visiting a website where he saw “a large amount of child pornography.” Walton is free on a $25,000 signature bond and will return to court in September for a pretrial hearing.
