GREEN BAY, WI (WSAU) — Aaron Rodgers was on the practice field for the Green bay Packers on Wednesday and afterwards met with reporters for the first time since the off-field drama since last season.
Rodgers said all he wanted was more communication on player personnel decisions and the ability to make his views on those things known to management. Rodgers believed he should have been accorded that kind of respect for his long and successful career with the organization.
He also said he felt like a lame-duck quarterback after an MVP season and if he wasn’t going to be part of the recruiting process for free agents, the team should move forward and make the change they were planning when they drafted Jordan Love.
When the Packers offered a late contract extension and more money Rodgers said he wanted more of what he called “involvement” in team decisions, not just more money.
He also said that “he wasn’t closing the door on anything” when asked about possibly signing a contract extension and staying with the Packers after this season.
Rodgers seemed to be a happy guy on the practice field on Wednesday and said afterwards.” There’s still a big competitive hole in my body that I needed to fill. I know I can still play .”
