WAUSAU, WI (WSAU) – Thunderstorms across the northern half of the state impacted dozens of high school football games Friday night. Some kicked off earlier in the day; others were moved to Saturday. Some games were suspended because of thunder and lightning.
Wausau East fell in overtime on the road to Clayton, 29-28.
SPASH won its home opener with a convincing win over Superior, 43-0.
Wausau West was leading Merrill, 14-0 in the 1st quarter when the game was suspended because of lightning. It will not be continued, nor will it be rescheduled.
The Marshfield-Slinger game was called in the 2nd quarter, with the Tigers leading 14-0.
