MINNEAPOLIS, MN (WSAU) — An RBI groundout by Andrelton Simmons and base hit by Josh Donaldson broke a 4-4 tie after the 6th to give Minnesota a 6-4 win over Milwaukee in Saturday’s I-94 interleague showdown.
Milwaukee did the bulk of their damage in the top of the 4th after Minnesota had taken a 4-0 lead in the previous inning. Manny Pina recorded a line-drive single to bring home Lorenzo Cain, Jace Peterson followed that with a base knock of his own to score Rowdy Tellez. Christian Yelich then recorded a sac fly that scored Pina, another run would then score on a throwing error by Twins first baseman Miguel Sano.
Jace Peterson led the offense with two hits in the loss. Adrian Houser allowed five hits and five earned runs in five innings to take the loss on the mound.
The win by Minnesota gives them the series win. The same two teams will close out the weekend set this afternoon at 1:10, coverage begins at 12:35 on WSAU.
