WESTON, WI (WSAU) — The Everest Metro Police Department has announced that the child placed in a coma due to alleged abuse from their adoptive parents has died.
Chief Clay Schulz says the 5-year-old was pronounced dead on August 25th, and an autopsy was performed on Tuesday. The results of that autopsy are pending, and no further information will be released at this time.
The news comes the same day that the child’s adoptive parents, Jonathan and Sumitra Stolp, made a court appearance in Marathon County where a judge called on the state to finalize charges against them as soon as possible.
Both remain jailed on matching $75,000 cash bonds. They’re due back in court on September 29th.
The incident started back on August 15th when the child was brought to Marshfield Medical Center with a skull fracture and bleeding on the brain while also showing elevated levels of Tylenol and alcohol in its blood.
