SCHOFIELD, WI (WSAU-WAOW) — The garages at Metro Center Apartments in Schofield are considered a total loss after a fire broke out in the structure Wednesday afternoon.
According to the Everest Metro PD the fire was reported at about 1:20. Multiple units were brought in to fight the flames, which quickly spread through the units. Smoke from the fire could be seen for miles.
Several residents had property inside the units, including one resident who told WAOW TV that he’s lost his 2018 Chevy Equinox which had fewer than 15,000 miles on it.
Police are asking anyone with information about the fire to come forward immediately. This includes anyone who may have a video of the early stages of the fire. Those who have suffered property loss are asked to contact the property managers of the complex, they have the forms that will need to be filled out.
The garage units were detached from the apartments themselves. No one was hurt in the incident. Everest Metro PD and Riverside Fire are handling the investigation.
