MILWAUKEE, WI (WSAU) — Brandon Woodruff suffered another frustrating night as he pitched well but the offense struggled again as the St. Louis Cardinals edged the Brewers 2-1 at American Family Field.
Woodruff allowed only one run over six innings with 10 strikeouts. He also hit the 200 strikeout mark for the first time in his career.
But the offense only managed a single run in the 8th inning when Willy Adames had a sac-fly that scored Daniel Vogelbach. Kolten Wong had a double in the inning that just missed being a game-tying home run.
Milwaukee has dropped three straight and their magic number to clinch the division remains at 3. The Cardinals have won 10 straight games and 12 of their last 13.
The two teams play again tonight…pre game show at 6:05 on WSAU.
