PEWAUKEE, WI (WSAU) — Governor Evers and the Wisconsin Economic Development Corporation have announced that Generac will be expanding its presence in the state.
The planned $53 million investment will bring 700 jobs to multiple locations, including a new office in Pewaukee which will account for nearly half of those jobs.
The plan calls for Generac’s global headquarters to remain in Waukesha.
“This is fantastic news for southeast Wisconsin and our entire state’s continued economic recovery,” said Gov. Evers in a press release. “Generac is a great example of a Wisconsin brand known across the globe, and their decision to further expand in our state is a reminder that Wisconsin continues to be a leader in advanced manufacturing and forward-looking businesses.”
WEDC is kicking in around $9 million in tax credits if the company meets both the $53 million investment and creates 700 jobs as promised. That would bring the company’s Enterprise Zone credits from $10 million to $19 million. Generac has until 2024 to hit those numbers.
WEDC has been working with Generac to grow the company’s presence in the Badger State since 2017.
Founded in 1959 in Wisconsin, Generac introduced the first affordable backup generator and later created the category of automatic home standby generator—a market in which nearly eight of 10 generators sold is a Generac. Today, Generac provides a range of advanced power grid software solutions, backup and prime power systems for home and industrial applications, solar battery storage solutions, virtual power plant platforms, and engine- and battery-powered tools and equipment.
