WAUSAU, WI (WSAU) — The murder trial of Cindy Schulz-Juedes gets underway this morning at the Marathon County Courthouse.
Schulz-Juedes is accused of killing her husband, Kenneth, back in 2006. The 66-year-old was arrested in December of 2019 and charged with one count of first-degree intentional homicide as a party to a crime and one count of resisting or obstructing an officer.
Officers have not said what evidence led them to arrest Schulz-Juedes after nearly 15 years.
Investigators have claimed that Schulz-Juedes may have committed the crime to get at nearly $1 million in life insurance money and various other assets. This came after a copy of his will went missing following his death, but she later claimed to have found it in a wedding album. Handwriting experts raised questions about the authenticity of Kenneth’s signature on the document, while the attorney listed said it wasn’t written in a format typically used by their office.

Last winter Schulz-Juedes claimed that the murder was committed by five other individuals over the sale of a racetrack and to keep Ken Juedes quiet about alleged drug activity.

The trial is expected to last into mid-November. If found guilty she faces a mandatory life sentence with only the possibility of parole to be discussed at sentencing. The case will be handled by Marathon County Judge Michael Moran in the Branch 5 courtroom, located on the first floor of the courthouse in Wausau.
