WAUSAU, WI (WSAU) — An ambulance transporting a paitent from a crash in Schofield was involved in another crash in downtown Wausau Wednesday night.
The incident started with a report of a person hit by a vehicle on Grand Avenue in Schofield. A Riverside Fire Dept ambulance was brought in to take the victim to Aspirus in Wausau.
As the ambulance was in route it was involved in a crash near the intersection of Scott Street and North First St in downtown Wausau.
Officers say the person who died was the victim of the incident in Schofield. No further information, including their name, has been released.
The crash closed down the Scott Street bridge for a time, routing traffic looking to cross the Wisconsin River to Bridge St.
