MILWAUKEE, WI (WSAU) — The Green Bay Packers will have a new radio flagship station in 2022.
Both the team and WTMJ in Milwaukee announced that they have decided to end their relationship after more than 90 years.
“The Packers have greatly appreciated the partnership with WTMJ over the years and will always respect the history they have with the franchise,” said Craig Benzel, Packers VP of sales and business development, in a news release.
WTMJ will serve as the flagship station for the ten remaining regular-season games this year and any potential playoff games. Then beginning with the 2022 preseason iHeart Media’s 97.3 The Game will take over as flagship station.
The team will continue to produce the majority of its radio network programming in-house, as they have done since 2018.
The Packers’ relationship with WTMJ started back in 1929.
Today’s announcement from the Packers and WTMJ does not impact WSAU’s affiliation with the club. Games will continue to be heard on AM 550, FM 99.9 in Stevens Point, and FM 95.1 in Wausau.
