Attorney General Josh Kaul stated that Wisconsin has fined Verhasselt Farms, Ltd in Kaukauna for alleged violations of the state water pollution laws that apply to CAFOs. The penalty requires the dairy to pay a $55,000 fine and to upgrade to two feed storage spaces on the farm.
According to the complaint, at least on June 15th, 2017, the farm had polluted runoff go into Wisconsin waters, which is a violation of state law and the CAFO water discharge permit. The dairy also failed to complete construction of controls in a timely manner that were required to stop runoff from the feed storage areas at the farm.
