SCHOFIELD, WI (WSAU-WAOW) — After years of drama, the Hidden Lakes Estates Mobile is officially closing.
Residents of the trailer park are expected to be out of the park by Monday, November 8th at midnight, per an order from Marathon County Judge Michael Moran issued back in August. That order upheld a decision from the city of Schofield to not issue two years’ worth of operating licenses for the facility.
Now residents are still struggling to find a new place to live.
“The real issue is that it is not the city of Schofield’s problem, its not the residents fault,” City Council President Joan Joss told WAOW TV. “It all falls back on the owner who has not been the best landlord at all.”
Joss said the city provided residents with a list of landlords in the area with affordable housing options and the contact to North Central Community Action.
“We have put together a list of affordable properties in the $400-$600 range'” said Joss. “And there is money available to help with relocation and affordable housing.”
The Park’s owner, Wyoming-based Sustainable Resources, has remained silent since Moran’s decision in August and subsequent move-out deadline. Mayor Kregg Hoehn previously told WSAU News that there has been little to no contact with owners over the last few weeks.

Resident Gloria Abrahamson said the increasing price of rent, application fees, and limited handicap accessibility are just some of the reasons why people cannot find a place to live.
“I don’t understand how people, the city of Schofield and the judge can just toss everybody to the side and say it doesn’t matter that you find a place, get out anyway,” Abrahamson said.
At this time Abrahamson says there are between four to six other families who have not been able to secure new housing.
