MADISON, WI (WSAU) — The Minnesota Golden Gophers used three first-period goals to secure a 4-1 win over Wisconsin and split the weekend series between the Interstate 94 rivals.
Minnesota’s four goals came from four different players including Jaxon Nelson on the power play at the end of the first. Wisconsin’s lone tally came from Roman Ahcan early in the second.
Cameron Rowe started in net and was tagged with the loss after allowing all four Minnesota goals on 12 shots. He was replaced by Jared Moe in the second, who didn’t allow a goal while making 12 saves.
Wisconsin drops to 2-2 in Big Ten play with the loss, while Minnesota are now 3-1, and in a three-way tie for first with Michigan and Ohio State.
The Badgers will hit the road next weekend to take on winless Notre Dame for a conference doubleheader on Friday and Saturday.
