(Reuters) – Chicago Federal Reserve President Charles Evans on Thursday said he is more “open-minded” to adjustments in monetary policy next year, if inflation continues to stay high.
Rate hikes may need to begin in 2022, he said, though they could also begin in 2023, adding that they will be gradual.
“We may have to lean into” more restrictive policy than he was expecting six months ago, Evans said.
