MINNEAPOLIS, MN (WSAU) — Greg Joseph’s 29-yard field goal at the gun lifted the Minnesota Vikings to a 34-31 win over Green Bay on Sunday in what turned out to be a shootout between Aaron Rodgers and Kirk Cousins.
The two QB’s combined for more than 700 passing yards and seven touchdowns in the contest. Rodgers finished 23/33 for 385 yards and four scores, including two touchdowns to Davante Adams and a 75-yard strike to Marquez Valdes-Scantling that tied the game at 31 with just over two minutes to go in the game.
MVS ended the game with 123 receiving yards, Adams added 115 yards.
Josiah Deguara also found himself on the receiving end of a Rodgers scoring strike. AJ Dillion recorded 11 carries for 53 yards. Rodgers was the second-leading rusher on the team with 2 carries for 21 yards.
De’Vondre Campbell and Darnell Savage were the defensive leaders, each recording six solo tackles and one assist. Savage added two pass breakups. Preston smith recorded four tackles and two sacks.
Packers K Mason Crosby’s shaky stretch continued, as he finished 1/2 on FG attempts but was a perfect 4/4 on extra points. Crosby’s miss came in the second quarter when he doinked a 32-yarder off the left upright.
Cousins finished with 341 yards and three TD’s, two of those went to Justin Jefferson and one to Minnesota native Adam Thielen.
Despite the loss, Green Bay remains on top of the NFC North at 8-3 with Minnesota in second at 5-5.
