VILLAGE OF VESPER, WI (WSAU) — The new year started with a stabbing incident in Wood County on Saturday.
Sheriff’s Officials along with first responders from both Vesper and Pittsville were called out at 12:01 AM for a report of an individual walking along Michigan Avenue in Vesper with multiple stab wounds. First aid was administered at the scene, and the victim was transported to a nearby hospital.
The victim remains hospitalized with non-life-threatening injuries as of Saturday afternoon.
Officers turned their attention to finding the suspect, who surrendered after a brief standoff. He was identified as 64-year-old David Kelm.
No information about what led to the incident was released, and its unclear if Kelm will face any charges in the incident.
The incident was isolated and officers say there is no danger to the public.
