WAUKESHA, WI (WSAU) — The man accused of driving his vehicle into the Waukesha Chrismas Parade route last November is now facing nearly 80 charges in connection with the incident.
As of Wednesday authorities in Waukesha County have amended the charges against Darrell Brooks to reflect 61 counts of recklessly endangering safety, six counts of hit-and-run causing death, and two counts each of bail jumping and misdemeanor battery. That’s on top of the six counts of intentional homicide that he’s already facing.
Brooks is accused of driving his SUV into the parade route, causing panic among the hundreds of people that had lined the street for the annual event. Six people died in the incident, and dozens more were injured.
Those killed ranged in age from eight to 81. Brooks is due back in court on January 14th and is being held on a $5 million bond.
