WAUSAU, WI (WSAU) — Wausau School officials have trimmed the proposed $181.9 million referendum question down to $119.8 million.
John Muir Middle School and West High would see the lion’s share of the work. To see a complete spending breakdown, click here.
In addition to specific school projects, the proposal also includes $15 million in district-wide spending for furniture replacement, athletic field lighting, and the installation of field turf.
District leaders did not provide how the $119.8 million price tag would impact taxes, though during last Monday’s meeting Finance Officer Bob Tess said a $130 million package would have a negative short-term impact on taxes because of the flexibility the district has with structuring debt.
If the board approves the measure during Monday’s meeting, it would then be voted on during the April 5th non-partisan election.
