Another Green Bay Packer assistant coach has departed. Tight Ends Coach Justin Outten has followed former Offensive Coordinator Nathaniel Hackett to Denver to become the Broncos Offensive Coordinator for Hackett who was introduced as their new Head Coach last week. Outten was part of Matt LaFleur’s original staff in 2019 after spending three years with the Atlanta Falcons. He helped develop Robert Tonyan from an undrafted free agent to one of the league’s top tight ends with 11 touchdown receptions in 2020. Outten also had a big say in Green Bay’s rushing attack. His knowledge of LaFleur’s system was a main reason why Hackett convinced him to help build Denver’s new offensive system.
With Outten’s departure, LaFleur now has openings at tight end along with quarterbacks after Luke Gesty left to become Offensive Coordinator for Chicago Bears newly hired Head Coach Matt Ebeflus.
The Packers are also in the market for a new Special Teams Coordinator after the reported dismissal of Maurice Drayton although the Packers have yet to officially announce that move.
LaFleur and the rest of the Packer staff is in Las Vegas where they will coach the NFC team in this weekend’s Pro Bowl at Allegiant Stadium.
