MILWAUKEE, WI (WSAU) –The Milwaukee Bucks strengthened their interior defense by aquiring Serge Ibaka from the LA Clippers as part of a four team trade on Thursday.
As part of the deal the Bucks sent Donte DiVincenzo to the Sacramento Kings and Semi Ojeleye and Rodney Hood to the Clippers. They also got back two future 2nd round draft choices and cash. The rest of the deal saw the Detroit Pistons send Josh Jackson and Trey Lyles to Sacramento and get back Marvin Bagley III.
Mike Budenholzer says the addition of the 32 year sold Ibaka, who will be a free agent at the end of the season, can help the Bucks “in many different ways”. He’s expected to provide better interior defense and insurance if Brook Lopez can’t make it back from injury this season. It also frees up Giannis from having to play center.
Milwaukee, by clearing two other roster spots, will probably be bringing in some other players via the free agent buy-out route.
