MADISON, WI (WSAU) — The Badger Men’s Hockey team opened their delayed weekend set against Notre Dame with a 5-3 triumph over to Fighting Irish on Saturday.
The Badgers got five goals from five different players starting with Mathieu De St. Phalle who opened the scoring at the 12-minute mark in the first period. Ryder Donovan and Anthony Kehrer followed to give Wisconsin a 3-1 lead after one.
Josh Ess and Jack Gorniak added goals in the second and third, respectively.
Gorniak and De St. Phalle both recorded two assists in the game as well.
Jared Moe recorded 38 saves in the contest.
The same two teams will skate tonight at the Kohl Center to close out their weekend series. Pregame coverage will be heard on WSAU starting at 7:30.
Meanwhile just down the hallway at LaBahan Arena the Badger women recorded a 7-2 win over the Mavericks of Minnesota State, Mankato. Drake Delaney and Daryl Watts each scored two goals in the win, with Watts adding three assists.
Makenna Webster had a goal and an assist. Grace Bowlby had a three-assist game.
Kennedy Blair made just seven saves in the game.
The same two teams will conclude their WCHA series this afternoon.
