WAUSAU, WI (WSAU) — The Wausau City Council has officially voted to terminate T Wall as the developers of the proposed Riverlife mixed-used development in a unanimous vote.
The Council spent about 45 minutes in a closed session discussing the proposal, which has been marred by setbacks over the last year.
While T Wall had the rights to develop the property, they had yet to come into a formal development agreement with the city.
Two weeks ago the developers approached the Economic Development Committee asking for an extension, which was met with criticism and frustration by those on the committee, and ultimately died when no one motioned the proposal forward to a vote.
City leaders will likely issue another request for proposals for the site, located near the current Riverlife Apartments and a separate Riverlife Condo development, later this year.
T Wall, a Madison-area company, does still have other developments in process in Wausau including at the former Wausau Center Mall site as part of the Wausau Opportunity Zone development.
