INDIANAPOLIS, IN (WSAU) — The Wisconsin Badgers have earned a #3 seed in the NCAA Men’s Basketball tournament and won’t go far to play their first games.
The 24-7 Badgers, who finished 15-5 in Big Ten play, will take on #14 Colgate out of the Patriot League in the Midwest Region on Friday. The Raiders finished 23-11 including 16-2 in the Patriot.
Tip time has been set for 8:50 PM.
The winner of that game will take on either LSU or Iowa State in the Second Round on Sunday. The Cyclones and Tigers will tip-off at 6:20, just before the Badger game.
Wisconsin’s First and Second Round games will be played at Fiserv Forum in Milwaukee. The other set of games at the home of the Milwaukee Bucks features East Region action with Texas taking on Virginia Tech and Purdue versus Yale. Those will be the first two games of the day, starting at 1 PM with the Boilers and the Bulldogs.
The winner of the Midwest bracket in Milwaukee will go on to play in the Sweet 16 round at the United Center in Chicago. The East bracket winner advances to Wells Fargo Arena in Philadelphia, PA for the second weekend.
Marquette is also in the tournament and they will face North Carolina on Thursday in Fort Worth.
Gonzaga’s Bulldogs, who finished as runners-up last year to Baylor, was given the tournament’s #1 overall seed and will play in the West Region. Other #1s were Arizona (South), Kansas (Midwest), and Baylor (East).
This year’s Final Four will take place at Caesar’s Superdome in New Orleans.
WSAU will carry all Badger tournament games live.
