GREEN BAY, Wi (WSAU) — After passing a team physical this weekend Green Bay Packer quarterback Aaron Rodgers officially signed his contract extension.
ESPN is reporting the deal is a three year-year, $150 million that includes two voidable years in 2025 and 2026 that help for salary cap reasons.
The report says that Rodgers will make $41.95 million this season, which is fully guaranteed as a roster bonus. His 2023 pay will be $59.465 million also guaranteed. In 2024 he will make $49.25 million that is only guaranteed against injury.
The extension lessens his salary cap hit this year by $18 million. The Packers are now close to getting under the cap which they must do by Wednesday at 3pm.
The downside is if Rodgers only plays one more season and retires or gets traded, the Packers would have to absorb more than $68 million in dead money.
