STEVENS POINT, WI (WSAU-WAOW) – Staffing shortages have been an issue at the Stevens Point post office for a better part of a year.
City leaders and some residents say these shortages have caused delivery delays, mistakes, and even failures.
But now the issue has escalated, with some residents claiming their packages were being thrown onto their porches, doors and decks.
“Packages should be brought up to the door and not just tossed, thrown, or mishandled, you don’t know what’s in there.” Amy Doan, a resident of Stevens Point, told WAOW-TV. She said she first noticed it when the pandemic began, and it’s only gotten worse.
Mayor Mike Wiza urged patience as staffing shortages continue to persist.
“But I think, really, the only way they’re gonna improve is when the employment changes, with all these openings, it’s very difficult to maintain services even in the city.” said Wiza.
USPS denies any knowledge of these actions in Stevens Point, saying “When mail service issues occur, we take steps to quickly resolve customer concerns. We gladly work to address any specific issue from the community when brought to our attention and we encourage customers to reach out to their local postal station.
