TALKING STICK, Az (WSAU) — The Milwaukee Brewers banged out 12 hits and scored six runs over the final four innings to rally for an 8-7 win over the Colorado Rockies on Monday night. With many of the upper minor leaguers already departed from spring training, it was some lower minor leaguers that keyed the comeback.
But, veteran outfielder Hunter Renfroe iced the win by catching a line drive and then throwing out the tying run at the plate to end the game.
Omar Narvaez hit his first homer of the spring. Freddy Peralta made his final spring start going 4 1/3 innings allowing six hits, five runs and a walk, with five Ks.
Milwaukee finishes Spring Training with an afternoon game vs Kansas City today. Opening Day is scheduled for Thursday at Wrigley Field.
The Brewers also made some roster moves that sets up their Opening Day bullpen. They optioned J.C. Mejia and Miguel Sanchez to AAA Nashville and reassigned Luis Perdomo to minor league camp. That means the Brewers bullpen will feature Josh Hader, Devin Williams, Brad Boxberger, Aaron Ashby, Hoby Milner, Jose Urena, Trevor Gott, Jandel Gustave, Jake Cousins and Brent Suter.
The Brewers also optioned utility player Pablo Reyes to AAA Nashville.
