WAUSAU, WI (WSAU-WAOW) – There will be at least one recount necessary from last Tuesday’s spring elections, with the Village of Kronenwetter saying one of the six candidates for Village Trustee has requested it.
Timothy Shaw tied Danielle Bergmann for third place, with 606 votes apiece, a change from the initial results. The top three vote-getters get seats on the village board.
“This is the first recount that we’ve ever had for trustee, but this election has kind of been a record-setter because this was the first time we’d ever had a primary for trustee. We all expected a recount request to come through from one of the candidates,” said village clerk Sashe Menge.
That recount is scheduled for next Tuesday, April 19, at 9am.
Portage County has also certified its election results and recount may be looming.
The results did not change from the initial count there, which means John Pavelski will be the next Portage County Executive. Eric Olson lost that race by just 24 votes, and announced he is considering asking for a recount.
There may also be recounts in a very close Wausau City Council race, and for a seat on the Marathon County Board of Supervisors. Wausau’s first Alder district has Carol Lukens leading John Kroll by two votes, and in the 11th Supervisor district incumbent Alyson Leahy currently holds a three-vote lead over challenger Randy DeBroux.
Candidates have three days after canvassing finishes to decide if they want to request a recount.
