WISCONSIN RAPIDS, WI (WSAU-WAOW) -The Wausau Hmong American center is extending its outreach to Wood County.
Officials said Wood County is home to almost 1,500 Asian American Residents most of whom identify as Hmong or Southeast Asian.
Yee Leng Xiong, Executive Director of the Hmong American Center, said by branching out to Wisconsin Rapids more members of their community can use the services available.
“For members of the southeast Asian community transportation is already a big issue,” Xiong said. “So having a location in near the Wood County area members of the Southeast Asian community in the Wood County can basically be able to access it, be able to approach it, come to it within minutes.”
The center plans to extend its programming to the Wisconsin Rapids branch, including career development and youth programming.
