APPLETON, WI (WSAU) — A GoFundMe account has been set up to help the families of two victims in last weekend’s deadly car crash west of Wausau.
Friends and family describe 21-year-old Sophie Sullivan and her passenger, 20-year-old Audrie Stephens as inseparable. “They had dreams of making a mark on this world; traveling, and experiencing different cultures, all while eating their favorite Korean snacks from H-Mart. They really enjoyed life and were rarely separate. They used to joke that if they never found anybody at a certain age that they would just get married,” said Sophie’s brother in a statement on GoFundMe.
Money raised from the account will go to help both the Sullivan and Stephens families with final expenses and possibly a memorial in their honor. They have set a goal of raising $40,000. As of Tuesday morning they’ve raised over $6,500. To donate, click here.
Family members also released more details about the crash through the GoFundMe page, saying the two were killed while coming home from the Twin Cities for the Easter holiday. Adding that the two died when their vehicle was struck head-on by a driver going the wrong way in the eastbound lanes of Highway 29.
The crash closed down both lanes of Highway 29 near the Highway 97 intersection for about five hours Saturday night into Sunday morning.
