RHINELANDER, WI (WSAU-WXPR) – The Northwoods is getting ready to celebrate Pride month.
The Rainbow Hodags, a Nicolet College group, is hosting a series of events as part of the Northwoods Pride Festival. It kicks off Friday at 11 AM with a virtual roundtable on understanding gender identity and gender expression.
The festival culminates with the Northwoods Pride Day on June 25th.
Di Wu is the co-advisor for Rainbow Hodags: “We will have a full day of events including a keynote speaker focusing on queer mental health, a drag show, community resource fair, and music, food, and a lot of social opportunities.”
Wu says the mission of the festival is to create a memorable and uplifting day that provides entertainment and educational opportunities.
He also adds that it’s kid and family-friendly and invites anyone to join. “We still have a lot of opportunities for people to join us, no matter if its just to be here or to sign up for the open mic or to become one of the volunteers or if you are a non-profit organization you can provide services and support to the queer community, you’re welcome to sign up for the community resources fair.”
It ends with the Northwoods Pride Day at Nicolet College on June 25th.
