MILWAUKEE, WI (WSAU) — The Milwaukee Brewers had to make a few roster moves on Wednesday to accomodate some new players and make room for some returning familiar faces.
In the most surprising move the team designated Dinelson Lamet for assignment. Brewers GM David Stearns said that Lamet was included in the Josh Hader trade to balance salaries and that the Brewers believe he has a good arm and can bounce back from his struggles this season, but with subsequent transactions, the roster became tight and difficult decisions had to be made.
Lamet can now be claimed by any team but if he clears waivers, he can be outrighted to a Brewers minor league team or released.
The Brewers brought in pitchers Taylor Rogers & Matt Bush this week and also returned Freddy Peralta to the active roster. They also acquired pitcher Trevor Rosenthal and made room on the 40 man roster for him by releasing Luke Barker.
Milwaukee also brought back Keston Hiura from AAA Nashville and designated catcher Pedro Severino for assignment. Pitcher Jandel Gustave was also placed on the 15 day IL.
