RHINELANDER, WI (WSAU) — A short-notice court hearing took place Friday for the man suspected of killing Hannah Miller in 2021.
Christopher Terrell Anderson was in court at 4 PM where he entered a guilty plea to a count of first-degree homicide, just three days before going to trial in the case.
The 31-year-old will now face a mandatory life sentence for killing Miller. Court records show that as part of a plea deal, there will be a discussion about making him eligible for parole after 30-40 years of incarceration.
According to police he shot Miller, the mother of his child, and dumped her body along a rural road outside Rhinelander.
Once he was named a person of interest in the case, he went into hiding which prompted a multi-state manhunt. Vehicles associated with Anderson were located in the Twin Cities, but he was ultimately arrested several weeks later in suburban Chicago.
Both the defense and prosecution moved to forgo a presentence investigation. Sentencing was then set for August 23rd.
An associate of Anderson, Seth Wakefield, is also facing charges in connection with the incident. According to police, he knew of Anderson’s plans to kill Miller and even helped him by conducting surveillance on her apartment to help determine when she would be home. He returns to court for a status conference on September 6th.
