MADISON, WI (WTAQ-WLUK) — Democratic candidates in Wisconsin’s two major statewide races have leads — but the governor’s race is tighter than the Senate race, a new poll finds.
Results of the latest Marquette University Law School Poll were released Wednesday. It showed Democrat Tony Evers leading Republican Tim Michels 45%-43% among registered voters in the election for governor.
Another 7% said they would vote for independent Joan Beglinger. Evers’ lead was within the poll’s 4.2 percentage point margin of error.
In the election for U.S. Senate, Democrat Mandela Barnes led Republican Ron Johnson 51%-44% among registered voters.
The poll found that 83% of Republicans, 82% of Democrats and 66% of independents said they would be “absolutely certain” to vote in the Nov. 8 election.
The poll interviewed 811 registered Wisconsin voters between Aug. 10 and 15.
