MILWAUKEE, WI (WSAU) — Six strong innings from Brandon Woodruff helped the Brewers keep the Chicago Cubs down just long enough for the offense to wake up Saturday in a 7-0 win.
Woodruff left the game after six innings; allowing four hits and recording 10 strikeouts but most importantly he exited with the game tied 0-0. Milwaukee would then explode for four runs in the 7th and three in the 8th.
The scoring opened on a botched bunt play by the Chicago defense which allowed Victor Caratini to score. Christian Yelich then followed with a three-run homer.
Kolten Wong and Willy Adames followed with home runs in the 8th to add to the lead.
Yelich led the offense going 4-5 with three RBI and two runs scored. Andrew McCutchen and Wong added two hits each.
The same two teams will close out their three-game set this afternoon at American Family Field. Coverage starts at 12:35 on WSAU.
