PHOENIX, AZ (WSAU) — The Arizona Diamondbacks knocked off the Milwaukee Brewers 5-0 on Thursday night in Phoenix.
Merrill Kelly allowed just four singles, struck out seven and didn’t have a walk as he pitched seven innings for the D-Backs. The Brewers didn’t have a baserunner after the 5th inning.
Brandon Woodruff allowed five runs, all coming with two outs, over 5.1 innings.
The Cardinals were idle and now lead the Brewers by 6 1/2 games in the Central. Milwaukee is four back of the Padres in the wildcard chase. They play Arizona again tonight….pregame show at 8:05 on WSAU.
Milwaukee also called up minor league outfielder Esteury Ruiz and pitcher Luis Perdomo. Ruiz was acquired in the Josh Hader trade.
