ST. LOUIS, MO (WSAU) — It was all hands on deck from the Milwaukee Brewers bullpen in an 8-4 win over the St. Louis Cardinals on Tuesday night at Busch Stadium.
Matt Bush, who was an emergency starter for Milwaukee, only lasted three hitters before leaving with groin discomfort. The Brewers used seven pitchers after that to record the win. They achieved the final 23 outs without allowing a run.
Peter Strzelecki and Luis Perdomo allowed runs before Brad Boxberger, Hoby Milner, Justin Topa, Taylor Rogers and Brent Suter shut the door. Perdomo picked up the win.
Andrew McCutchen hit his 17th home run, a two-run shot, in the fifth inning which gave the Brewers the lead. McCutchen drove in three while Willy Adames and Christian Yelich had two RBIs each. Hunter Renfroe drove in the other run.
Milwaukee is now seven games back of St. Louis in the Central Division. They remain two games back of San Diego in the wild card chase as the Padres won.
The two games square off again tonight…pre game show at 6:10 on WSAU
