GREEN BAY, WI (WSAU) — The Packer offense was limited to just one touchdown on Sunday in a 27-10 interconference setback against the New York Jets.
Neither team could put together a scoring drive in the first quarter. The Jets broke the stalemate with a 32-yard field goal in the second, which Green Bay would match with a Mason Crosby 29-yard kick.
The game went to halftime tied at 3. New York broke out for 14 points in the third quarter.
Aaron Rodgers found Allen Lazard for a 25-yard touchdown despite having pressure in his face on the throw. That led to a roughing the passer penalty that was enforced on the kickoff.
The Jets would match that score on the next possession.
Special teams woes hurt the Packers once again today with a missed field goal at the end of the first quarter. A blocked punt also turned into a Jets touchdown in the second half.
A pair of 4th quarter drives ended on 4th down as well, including a 15-play, 53-yard march that ended on 4th and 14 on the Jets’ 37.
Rodgers finished the game 26/41 for 246 yards and one touchdown. AJ Dillion had ten carries for 41 yards to go with four catches and 11 yards receiving. Robert Tonyan had ten receptions for 90 yards on 12 targets.
Lazard finished with four catches for 76 yards and one score.
De’Vondre Campbell finished with four tackles and four assists to lead the defense. Jaire Alexander had three tackles and three passes defended.
Following the game Rodgers told the media he feels the team is trying to do too much and the offense needs to be simplified, saying when the team struggles it’s because of an overcomplication of the offense.
“The scheme is good, really good. But we aren’t executing. It may be time to reel it back in,” he said.
