The Dairy Innovation Hub will hold its third annual Dairy Summit conference on November 16, hosted by UW–River Falls.
Formatted for a general audience, the Summit features the Hub’s newest projects. Anyone unable to attend in person can participate through a live virtual option. Sessions will also be recorded and posted to YouTube.
Hub events are free and open to the public. Pre-registration is required.
In addition to research presentations, there will be two panel sessions to stimulate ideas and discussion:
Members of the Western Wisconsin Conservation Council, a local farmer-led conservation group, will discuss their groundwater database, developed in partnership with faculty at UW–River Falls. This work is quantifying a significant local concern and is an avenue to educate farmers about the connection between land use practices and groundwater quality.
A panel of business leaders representing dairy processing, farming, and state government will discuss economic development and the interface of business and the university.
Finishing out the day will be three tour options showcasing Hub investments at UW–River Falls including the dairy pilot plant, multiple student lab spaces, and the Dairy Learning Center.

In just three years, this unique initiative has funded more than 130 research and outreach projects across three campuses and four priority areas.
The Dairy Innovation Hub, which the state of Wisconsin is supporting with $7.8 million per year, harnesses research and development at UW–Madison, UW–Platteville and UW–River Falls campuses to keep Wisconsin’s $45.6 billion dairy community at the global forefront in producing nutritious dairy products in an economically, environmentally, and socially sustainable manner.
