BLOOMINGTON, ILL (WSAU) — The UWSP mens basketball team rallied from a ten point halftime deficit and beat Illinois Wesleyan 71-67 on Sunday in Bloomington.
Merrill grad Zach Mootz had a career high 23 points in the victory. Jake Buchanan added 15 and Landon VanCalster added 10.
The Pointers, now 2-1, will play at Madison Edgewood on Saturday.
The UWSP womens basketball team is off to a 3-0 start to the season. They knocked off Carroll 61-56 Saturday at Whitewater.
Jamie Pfeifer had 13 points, Courtney Krueger had 12 and Gabby Gawlitta finished with 10 points and 10 rebounds. Alexa Thomson pulled down 12 boards.
The Pointers, now 3-0, will host St. Norbert on Wednesday.
The UWSP mens hockey team saw five different players score goals on Saturday in a 5-5 tie at St. Olaf.
Sam Ayd, Jordan Roo, Nicholas Aromatario, Andrew Poulias and Noah Finstrom all had goals for the Pointers.
Alex Proctor had 19 saves.
The Pointers, now 2-1-3, will open league play Friday as they host UW-Stout.
The UWSP womens cross country team was chosen as an at-large team for the NCAA D-3 Midwest Regional that will be run Saturday in Lansing Michigan.
Rachel Krouse, Brooke Wellhausen, Katie Schaefer, Catie Gage & Paige Allemann finished fifth in the Midwest Regional this past weekend in Northfield Minnesota.
