MERRILL, WI (WSAU) – Cody Robertson has been sentenced to five years in prison for his role in the death of his son.
The 26-year-old was sentenced on Monday in Lincoln County court as the result of a plea deal reached last summer. Robertson entered a no contest plea to a count of negligence resulting in the death of a child.
He has been given credit for over 500 days already served. He will serve another six years on extended supervision after his release.
Investigators say the child died from a combination of physical abuse, malnutrition, and exposure to illegal narcotics. A toxicology report says the child had ingested methamphetamine and had lesions over much of his body. A social services report says the parents tried to cover up the lesions with makeup. Investigators found meth, LSA, marijuana, and drug paraphernalia in the home.
Two other children living there also tested positive for meth exposure.
The child’s mother, Amber Boyd, has already been sentenced for child neglect. She’s serving four years in prison, then six years of extended release.
