NEW YORK, NY (WSAU) — The NFL has announced that next Sunday’s game between the Green Bay Packers and Detroit Lions will be the final game of the regular season.
The league announced the kickoff times and network assignments for all 14 games scheduled to be played Sunday earlier this afternoon, choosing to move the Packers-Lions game to Sunday Night Football on NBC. Kickoff will be at 7:20, with pregame coverage on WSAU starting at 5 PM.
The game could be a winner-take-all contest for a playoff spot if the Seattle Seahawks lose to the LA Rams. That would keep the Lions alive for the #7 seed in the NFC bracket. Green Bay controls its own destiny and can claim the 7 spot by simply winning.
Two games will be played on Saturday with Kansas City taking on Las Vegas at 3:15 and Jacksonville hosting Tennessee at 7:15. The second game will be winner-take-all for the AFC South title and a home playoff game.
Sunday’s other NFC North game between Minnesota and Chicago, which has no playoff implications, will kick off at Noon on FOX.
Since expanding to a 17-game regular season schedule, the NFL has kept the week 18 schedule open to allow the best matchups to be moved into prime-time national windows. That includes a new Sunday doubleheader on ABC/ESPN, doubleheaders on both CBS and FOX on Sunday afternoon, and the Sunday Night game on NBC to close out the regular season.
