MADISON, WI (WSAU) – Governor Tony Evers declared a statewide energy emergency on Friday.
Executive order 183 said the emergency is due to “weeks of winter weather and the impact it has had on the distribution of residential heating fuel, including heating oil and propane.”
“Over the past weeks, residents and industry alike have had to deal with the challenges of severe winter weather and its impact on everyday necessities. The health, welfare, and safety of our neighbors depend on access to fuel for home heating,” Evers said.
The state’s Public Service Commission says multiple energy supplies are reporting long lines at terminals and truckers having to travel further to get fuel.
The order provides a 30-day exemption to some state regulations to bring heating fuel to residential and commercial customers.
