CRANDON, WI (WSAU) — What started as a well-being check for a couple arguing in a hotel turned into a large-scale drug bust in Forest County.
Officers were called to a room rented by 29-year-old Thomas Owens from Fond du Lac and 21-year-old Amanda West of Oshkosh as the couple was arguing. When officers arrived they found drugs lying in plain sight, prompting them to search the room and a vehicle associated with the couple.
Among the drugs seized as part of the investigation were fentanyl, methamphetamine, ecstasy, marijuana, and THC wax. Digital scales and other packaging items were also seized along with a firearm that had its serial number removed.
After West and Owens were taken into custody officials called the Oshkosh PD who conducted a search of their home, which turned up more drugs.
Both are now facing numerous counts in Forest County Circuit Court and are being held on bond.
